Job Announcement: Human Factors Research Consultant – Healthcare & Medical Products

About Us Research Collective is a Healthcare Human Factors and UX research consultancy. We work with top-tier medical device manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies to enhance the usability and safety of their products.
Join Our Team We’re looking for Human Factors Research Consultants at various experience levels (entry-level to highly experienced). You’ll work on a wide range of projects, collaborate with clients, and contribute to research that improves patient safety and product usability.
Your Role You will apply your expertise in human behavior, cognition, and usability to analyze, test, and refine medical products. Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting observational and contextual research
Performing task analysis and use‑related risk analysis
Conducting heuristic evaluations and cognitive walkthroughs
Designing and running usability tests
Analyzing data and performing root cause analysis
Preparing HFE documentation for regulatory submissions
Applying industry standards (e.g., FDA guidance, IEC 62366, HE75)
Building client relationships and contributing to business development
Who We’re Looking For We seek candidates who are analytical, detail‑oriented and collaborative, with a strong ability to communicate effectively. Consulting requires adaptability, curiosity, and a problem‑solving mindset.
Ideal Qualifications PhD or Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Human Systems Engineering, Human‑Computer Interaction, Experimental Psychology (Cognitive, Social, etc.), Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree + equivalent experience will also be considered.
Travel Requirements This role may require up to 25‑45% travel for client meetings, research studies, and conferences.
