POSITION SUMMARY During this externship, students will have the opportunity to work within the Marketing team at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) where they will specialize in Social Media & Content Marketing for restaurants, and also gain exposure to all other facets of Restaurant Marketing. In this position we hope to further develop student's business acumen, giving them real-life exposure to the rapidly growing food marketing industry.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Gain an understanding of marketing strategy, specifically a social media restaurant marketing plan.

Create brand architecture and build a brand image through exposure to how business navigates decision making, utilizing a mix of analytics and calculated risk taking.

Create content and post to the CIA’s social media and track analytics.

Update restaurant menus on the CIA’s website. Learn, create and execute marketing campaigns, paid media campaigns, utilizing analytics and loyalty marketing.

Learn how to build, set, and utilize an editorial calendar.

Collaborate and craft email copy and subject lines and track their performance.

Develop photography and video imaging skills.

Any and all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:

Current CIA student, pre-Extern.

Experience:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Passion for social media.

Experience with Earn & Learn and personal social media channels.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Exceptional organizational skills.

Strong administrative abilities.

Strong computer experience in MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.

Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.

Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
