Lockheed Martin seeks a strategic, detail oriented, highly motivated individual to provide advocacy and communications support to the company's government affairs (LMGA) organization. The Strategic Initiatives and Analysis Staff role, reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives, is a matrixed position which plays a critical role within the Government Affairs and Communications function, helping to shape critical advocacy campaigns within the beltway and across key state and local locations. The successful candidate must have excellent judgement, exceptional written and oral communications skills, and be a team player. This role requires an ability to navigate ambiguous situations with minimal guidance. The candidate should be able to prioritize competing tasks and inform leadership of situations requiring their immediate attention and action.

Primary Responsibilities

Support LMGA key advocacy campaigns, ensuring strategic campaign goals are synchronized and optimized.

Assist senior staff in drafting, reviewing, and tracking advocacy consultant agreements for scope, deliverables, and milestones.

Serve as the primary point of contact for advocacy consultants on routine matters (meeting requests, document submissions) and facilitate strategic campaign information flow between LMGA, Communications, Legal, Finance, and Business Line partners.

Discover, track, and alert on breaking news and impactful narratives, and measure and implement innovative advocacy communications, and rapid response strategies to support brand reputation.

Collaborate with internal business partners, Investor Relations, Finance, Legal, Communications and other colleagues across Enterprise Operations and Business Areas on key activities to align strategy and ensure desired outcomes.

Provide insightful, informed and strategic communications counsel to executives.

Manage multiple workstreams and projects simultaneously.

Support broader enterprise media relations engagement requirements: collaborate across the business to conduct research, prepare prep materials, identify, develop, and manage opportunities for and assist with narrative development and related messaging for use with and through third parties, government partners, and media outlets as required.

Basic Qualifications

Familiarity with U.S. defense policy, the federal budgeting process, and the ecosystem of think tanks, advocacy groups, and beltway media.

Communications experience in aerospace/defense, publicly traded company, government or B2G public relations or communications agency / consultancy, preferred.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compellingly.

Strong interest in domestic and international political and policy dynamics and their implications for media and messaging strategy preferred.

Motivated self‑starter who works effectively under competing priorities and tight deadlines, with close attention to detail, tact and collaboration.

Ability to travel as required.

Desired Skills

Prior experience in political research, political campaigns, “war room” operations public affairs, or on Capitol Hill, preferred.

Strong planning and project management experience.

Knowledge of AP Style and contemporary digital media trends.

Innovative and creative thinker, with a strong work ethic, positive attitude and excellent prioritization and time management skills.

Ability to Work Remotely:

Part‑time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules:

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five‑day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position:

9x80 every other Friday off
