The Automotive Salesperson sells and leases new and used vehicles while meeting dealership standards for gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction. This role engages customers, explains vehicle options, facilitates test drives, and works closely with the finance and service departments to ensure a seamless purchasing experience.
Key Responsibilities
Sell and deliver a minimum number of vehicles per month
Write complete sales orders and process paperwork according to dealership policies
Utilize dealership sales control and follow-up systems
Attend product and sales training courses as requested
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new products, features, accessories, and services
Develop and maintain a customer follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business
Maintain a prospect development system
Conduct business ethically and professionally
Approach, greet, and assist customers entering the showroom or sales lot
Assist customers in selecting vehicles by asking questions and listening to their needs
Explain product performance, application, and benefits; describe optional equipment
Offer test drives and follow procedures for proper identification
Ensure customer satisfaction and high level of service
Comply with all federal, state, and local laws governing automobile sales
Establish personal income goals aligned with dealership standards and plan strategies to meet them
Turn all closed deals over to the F&I Manager with completed paperwork
Prepare sold vehicles for customer delivery and explain operating features, warranty, and documents
Introduce customers to service department personnel and schedule first service appointments
Follow up on post-delivery items, titles, “we-owes,” and special requests
Review and analyze daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activities to improve efficiency
Attend sales meetings
Maintain professional appearance and demeanor
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Previous automotive sales experience preferred
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
Knowledge of vehicle financing and dealership processes helpful
Professional appearance and demeanor
Work Environment Dealership environment with frequent interaction with customers, sales staff, and management.
