How you make a difference The Travel Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight of nursing services by planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing programs across multiple facilities to fill vacancies. The role ensures compliance with contractual obligations, accreditation standards, and state regulations while maintaining consistency in patient care quality. It coordinates staffing, scheduling, orientation, training, and continuing education for nursing personnel, and actively participates in quality improvement, infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, and risk management activities. The position serves as a liaison between nursing services, medical providers, facility leadership, and external agencies, remaining visible and responsive for on‑call nursing emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Leads and oversees nursing services operations to ensure compliance with clinical standards, accreditation requirements, and contractual obligations
Manages nursing staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and performance evaluations
Coordinates patient care delivery, orientation, training, and continuing education for nursing staff
Participates in quality improvement, infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, and risk management activities
Serves as a liaison among nursing services, medical providers, facility leadership, and external agencies
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Experience:
Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative, management, and supervisory experience. Five (5) years of experience in the delivery and administration of correctional medical, dental, and mental health care is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse within the state of employment and CPR certification.
**This position requires extensive travel. Candidates must reside in the State of Florida. Relocation support is not offered.**
