This is a senior operational role, providing critical strategic and operational insight with a focus on continuous improvement, processes development, service enhancement, partner management, and cross company relationship building. You will be instrumental in shaping Tanner’s growth, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring that our mission to improve patient access to medicines is realized through empowered teams and effective partnerships.
Role Accountabilities Expected Responsibilities for the Senior Director RoW Technical Operations are:
Provide overall leadership to the Technical Operations team outside of the US (encompassing logistics and QA oversight)
Work closely with the EVP of Operations and the Senior Director of US Technical Operations to drive a culture of accountability and employee engagement
Act as the central orchestrator, aligning Technical Operations, Business Development, Program Management, and external stakeholders toward shared goals
Lead a proactive approach to problem-solving, addressing challenges with agility and creativity
Support Program Managers & Customer Service in the development of service offerings and program implementation and ensuring key partners meet program delivery requirements
Be an active member of cross-functional teams, cultivating a collaborative environment that encourages initiative, accountability, and continuous improvement
Provide leadership to key personnel including 1-2-1 mentoring
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between internal teams and external partners
Be a champion for a continuous improvement culture
Logistics Oversight
Assist in cross-divisional collaboration to provide exceptional global logistics services
Drive a culture of accountability and employee engagement; effectively manage individual and group performance to set behaviours, goals, and expectations
Promote and facilitate personal development, through coaching and mentoring
Partner Management
Manage contract 3PL and GMP (secondary packaging & labelling, and kitting) partner relationships and performance
Develop and expand partner network to support needs to the business
Support with the expansion of Tanner’s in-house warehousing and GMP capabilities
Support business with responding to RFPs/RFIs
Manage critical alliances and set the tone for collaboration, accountability, and high performance across cross-functional teams
Provide leadership in managing strategic partnerships, setting clear direction and expectations for both internal teams and external partners
Identify, build, and manage strategic partnerships with service providers on a global basis
Lead the development and execution of commercial agreements, demonstrating strong negotiation and decision-making skills
Monitor performance against contractual obligations and strategic objectives
In collaboration with QA and the Commercial teams ensure partners fulfil Tanner Quality Assurance and Compliance standards
Develop & implement a partner health check process, to ensure that agreed Service Levels are adhered to and resolve issues before they impact on Tanner business and service delivery levels
Champion Tanner’s values and standards, ensuring that all partners and teams uphold our commitment to quality, compliance, and ethical conduct
Desired Candidate Profile & Capabilities Required:
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a pharmaceutical/pharma services environment with a particular focus on supply chain, commercial or procurement roles and managing third-party providers
Experience with contract negotiations, running RFPs, establishing SLAs and KPIs, with third-party providers
Strong global network and relationships with pharmaceutical distribution and 3PL service providers
High attention to detail and a high standard for quality work
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders
Exceptional relationship-building skills
Knowledge of EU and FDA GxP, particularly logistics and secondary packaging and labelling
Aptitude for building lasting relationships based on trust and high ethical standards
Demonstrated history of establishing and delivering high levels of customer service
Ability to establish and enforce accountability to established standards of performance
Self-confidence in decision making and comfort taking calculated risks
Experience working in a high-paced and high-workload environment
Highly organized and adept at multi-tasking with a solid track-record following on commitments
Ability to travel up to 25-50% and meet on-site with third-party providers and engage with regional offices as needed
Location:
UK strongly preferred but will consider a European location for the right candidate
Preferred or desirable:
Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, and commercial acumen
Demonstrated ability in developing others and fostering a culture of excellence
Multilingual capabilities (especially EU languages) are highly valued
Experience with GxP audits, both conducting and hosting
