External Affairs and Member Engagement Specialist

What's your day like?
As the External Affairs and Member Engagement Specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a variety of engaging tasks. You will develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement, focusing on effective communication and outreach initiatives. You'll be tasked with fostering relationships with members and stakeholders, providing them with relevant information on our energy services and programs. Daily activities will involve coordinating events, conducting surveys, and collecting feedback to inform future initiatives.
You'll also collaborate with team members on projects that promote community involvement and advocacy for sustainable energy practices. Monitoring social media and other communication channels will be essential to ensure timely responses and maintain strong member relationships. Additionally, you will prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management, contributing to the overall strategic goals of Arizona G&T Cooperatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelors degree in a communications, political science, public relations, or related field.
Four or more years of applicable experience.
Strong command of public relations best practices for corporations and not-for-profit organizations, including social media.
Proficient at public speaking and representing the cooperatives at community and member events.
Familiarity with event planning and promotion.
Experience with video recording, photography and editing preferred.
Ability to work with others across departments and functions.
Ability to communicate relevant subject matter to various community and member audiences.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Ability to think strategically and make independent decisions.
Any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience can be substituted for requirements listed above.
Essential Functions:
Attend community and cooperative functions, with occasional evening and weekend work and in-state and out-of-state travel required throughout the year.
Serve as the liaison between the cooperatives and stakeholders, such as local schools, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, trade associations, county fair boards, etc.
Manage communications activities including development, coordination and production of content for publication, including newsletters, member cooperative magazines, public website, annual reports and social media.
Plan and execute programs and events for the cooperatives, member cooperatives and external groups.
Monitor state and local government action which may impact cooperative operations, project development, etc. and attend meetings of state and local government entities as needed.
Assist in managing annual donations and sponsorship programs, including maintaining a database of recipients, processing requests within budget parameters, communicating with applicants, and distributing funds on behalf of the cooperatives when requested.
Provide expertise and assistance to statewide association and member cooperatives and utilities as needed.
Work with Director of Communications and Member Services on strategy development and execution for cooperative community engagement; managing donations, sponsorships, and advertising spend in consultation with the executive management team; and on-going development of the cooperative website and public presence.
