Sales Operations Manager Manages functions essential to the overall productivity of the Sales Team, including planning, reporting, forecasting, quota setting, performance metrics, territory analysis/alignment, and sales administration. Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the sales organization and providing strategic analysis of sales objectives and team results.

Responsibilities

Oversee the Sales Team while personally managing a portfolio of high‑value key accounts, driving revenue growth and ensuring strategic alignment across team and individual efforts.

Design, implement, and manage sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes, establishing high levels of quality and accuracy.

Coordinate planning activities with other functions and stakeholders in business units.

Drive revenue strategies for exhibit space, sponsorship, and rebook programs that deliver revenue growth and diversification.

Manage Salesforce use and efficiencies, including processes, expectations, and maintenance of contacts, opportunities, and stages.

Propose strategic themes and issues based on insights derived through monitoring data and managing sales operations.

Lead the planning cycle (strategy review, budget, goal setting, and performance tracking).

Monitor monthly performance to budget and work with senior leadership on developing the forecast.

Responsible for equitable assignment of Salesforce quotas and provide updates on performance monthly to senior leadership.

Active monitoring of pipeline development and growth to ensure goals can be met.

Identify and prioritize opportunities for Salesforce improvement.

Foster an organization of continuous process improvement.

Ensure ongoing processes are followed, including direct order management (invoicing), order confirmation, and processing.

Develop sales resources and job aids on sales processes, best‑selling tactics, and performance improvement tools.

Ensure accurate and efficient distribution of sales reports and recommend revisions to existing reports; develop new reporting tools as needed.

Make recommendations for changes in sales roles and team configuration to maximize sales productivity.

Help provide backup documentation, validation, and interpretation of sales compensation program rules, policies, and procedures.

Ensure overall management and collection of receivables.

Lead an Events sales staff, hiring, performance reviews, planning, coaching, development, and training.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, finance, or related field.

At least five (5) years of professional experience in data management and sales support.

At least three (3) years of people‑management experience.

Strong background in budgeting and forecasting.

Strong communication skills, including presentation abilities.

Self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment.

Experience with CRM, preferably Salesforce.

Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Enthusiastic, outgoing personality who works well in a team.

Demonstrated agility and willingness to adapt to ever‑changing priorities.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment.

Regular, in‑person attendance required.

Primary office location: Southfield, MI.

Travel required.

Salary and Benefits The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Offers typically fall within this range. In addition to base salary, SME offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403(b) with company matching, generous paid time off and holidays, professional development and training opportunities, and additional wellness and work‑life balance benefits. Certain positions may also be eligible for bonus/incentive compensation, subject to role and company policies.
