Position Summary The RECOVER Project Assistant Director will provide leadership to a dynamic team in realizing the vision of a safe, welcoming, recovery-informed community, one which supports recovery by sharing the wisdom of our lived experience and strengthens our community through full participation. Create resource connections, advocate to overcome barriers, and promote the reality that recovery is possible for all. Primary responsibilities include creating conditions for meaningful community engagement through a peer participatory process, program development, networking with local and state providers, coalition building, staff supervision and budget management. The leader in this position is responsible for modeling values and recovery, including actively promoting growth and wellness for themselves and the RP Staff Team and Community.
The leader in this role will demonstrate and model accountability to their own path of recovery, however that is defined. They will ensure that all related functions reflect the Consortium’s mission and values, including a long-held commitment to valuing a social justice framework which encourages a sense of belonging. This person will work collaboratively with the Social Justice Director to address issues related to equity and inclusion.
The RECOVER Project Assistant Director will serve as liaison with foundational needs including property, fiscal, IT and development.
General Duties Program Development
Utilizing a Peer Participatory process, ensure effective program design, implementation, evaluation and ongoing renewal.
Articulate program specific values & practices
Ensure staff and community members are trained in the Peer Participatory approach and that they understand and are actively practicing Recovery Support Principles
Oversee and participate in program activities and administration
Support Internal Committee-specific work whether standing or ad hoc
Responsible for ensuring program operational and IT needs are met by accessing agency support
Facilitate processes that articulate program specific values & practices; utilizing a Peer Participatory Process review and refresh practices
Facilitate processes to assess member satisfaction and program effectiveness
Ensure effective and safe support is in place for all activities that are held onsite, or virtually, after typical hours, whether RP related or sublet based.
Serve as lead contact for addressing concerns raised with staff, RP members, community, etc.
Fund Development
Content development for Grant and other proposals to support program operations & activities; work closely with the Program Director and Development Director to ensure content has continuity and deadlines are met
Engage in fundraising/fund development and grant writing to support program sustainability
Ensure all reporting related to funds is comprehensive and timely
Support Peer-Participatory process with identifying multi-prong approach to meeting funding needs
Ensure all fund development activities reflect organizational values
Cultivate donors, ensure prompt response in communication and tracking of all donations
Works with the Program Director and Development Director to create conditions for peer engagement in fund development.
Teams with the Program Director and Development Director to develop proposals and identify new funding sources reflective of community specific needs and expressed goals. Teams with RP employees and the Development Director to prepare for and respond to RFRs
Program Director Team
Responsible for promoting recovery values in agency activities
Address needs related to program that reflect on the agency culture and values, such as supporting positive values and interactions, enhancing morale
Participate in agency events such as the employee appreciation luncheon
Seek ways to recognize and lift the work of others; identify potential collaborative opportunities, as relevant, with Consortium sibling programs or other community-based programs external to the agency
Support smooth operation in human resources, payroll and fiscal by following and supporting agency standard operating procedures; raise concerns and offer ideas toward systems or practice improvements
Support major events and activities of agency programs
Provide back-up to the Program Director in their absence as needed, including attending external meetings as requested
Staff Supervision & Development
Create conditions for a community of accountability centered around recovery
Supervise Peer Leadership Development Coordinator and Peer Support Manager to practice accountability on their own path of recovery, however it is defined, ensuring they are demonstrating responsibility for assisting/supporting staff/community capacity to develop goals and objectives, peer developed policies and program evaluation.
Ensure effective administration of center-based programs, assure offerings meet agency and funder regulations and policies.
Ensure staff and community members are trained in the Peer Participatory approach and that they understand and are actively practicing Recovery Support Principles
Provide regular individual staff supervision to address training needs, celebrate successes, offer feedback on performance and clarify expectations
Support staff morale/teamwork through holding regular Staff Meetings
Attend Community Meetings to listen for community issues, support Volunteer engagement
Hire, train and conduct annual performance reviews for Recovery Support Center (RSC) employees whom the RP Assistant Director supervises
Coach and mentor Peer Participatory Process
Ensure regular review and examination of peer ethics including incidents and related situations that arise
Oversee Peer Recovery Support Center with CAPRSS accreditation where applicable
Financial Oversight
Process, maintain track spreadsheets, and reconcile financial transactions for all RP cost centers
Petty cash
Credit card expenses, submit receipts
Check Requests
Stipends
Donations
Sales
Rents
Monthly reconciliation of the General Ledger and communicate any corrections/errors with Program Director and NPDM; follow up as needed to ensure corrections/errors are made in a timely manner
Meet with Program Director Monthly to review all financial transactions
Keep a record of donations made to the RECOVER Project and respond with appropriate correspondence
Process and track deposits from sales, rents, donations, etc.
Maintain rent tracking and communicate as needed with outside groups using RP spaces to ensure payments are made in a timely manner
Maintain inventory, tracking, and data collections for gift cards, gas cards, and bus passes to ensure appropriate inventory and grant requirements are met
Supervisory Responsibility RECOVER Project Center based employees: Peer Leadership Development Coordinator, Peer Support Manager, center-based Recovery Coaches

Education Requirement Bachelor’s degree required; work experience may be substituted for some of the education requirement
Experience/Skill Requirements
Five years of sustained substance use recovery with a proven pathway and support
Three years of values-driven, shared leadership in a progressive social justice oriented, human service agency.
Knowledge and commitment to peer-lead recovery services and recovery principles, peer ethics and peer governance
