General Description The purpose of this position is to supervise the provision of services and accommodations for all enrolled and prospective students with disabilities. Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on their tolerate compliance responsibilities and serves as campus‑wide disability compliance office. Provide consulting on programmatic, employment, and physical compliance issues.

Responsible for eligibility decisions for enrolled and prospective students, and supervise the implementation of reasonable and appropriate accommodations and services for students with disabilities (SWD).

Serve as the University Disability Compliance Officer, to provide consultation for issues related to physical and programmatic accessibility and employment accommodation requests as required under Section 504/ ADA / ADAAA.

Hire, supervise and evaluate Disability Services staff and student personnel. Contract with deaf service providers and other providers as needed (software providers, alternate formats, etc.).

Develop and monitor departmental budget, and approve all financial transactions (technology and office purchases, student timesheets, travel, interpreter and captioning invoices).

Provide consultation and training for the campus community regarding federal disability law, accessible documents, activities and instruction, and other disability awareness issues as needed. Consult with IS&T and Malone Center as appropriate regarding accessibility of online technology resources and tools.

Supervise the development of procedures for timely and effective delivery of student services. Participate in direct service delivery, which may include secure exam proctoring, production and editing of accessible print materials, hiring and communication with peer notetakers, approval of priority registration, facilitating reasonable modification of attendance policies, completion of third‑party testing certification, determinations on housing and meal plan requests.

Develop, implement and assess departmental goals and objectives through annual unit planning process. Provide monthly reports to the EVPSA.

Analyze and/or report data as requested by Institutional Research and Planning and make recommendations regarding disability compliance as it impacts Student Affairs, Administrative Affairs, Business Affairs, Academic Affairs, Physical Plant and consenso other University units or departments.

Serve as a member of the University CARE Team and Emergency Duty team (may require occasional after‑hours or weekend on‑call duty).

Additional Duties

Provide referrals for assistive technology evaluations, orientation and mobility assistance, medical and mental health care and financial assistance.

Ensure accuracy and security of confidential and sensitive information (financial, student, employment).

Serve on appropriate campus committees related to equal opportunity and technology access.

Participate in professional development activities to stay abreast of current trends and litigation.

Participate in New Student Orientation, Admissions events and other student activities as appropriate.

Maintain relationships with state and other appropriate agencies to maximize financial, diagnostic and career services available to SWD.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to handle tense and possibly litigious situations.

Ability to speak to large groups, both students and professionals.

Strong knowledge of a wide variety of disability and medical conditions, and an understanding of the impact of disability on the social and educational development of students (student development and diversity theories).

Excellent computer_TOOLS skills to include MS Office and Banner; experience with Accessible Information Management (AIM) highly preferred.

Working knowledge of pertinent federal and state law (504, ADA, ADAAA, FERPA, Fair Housing).

Knowledge of assistive technology software and computer hardware, adaptive lab and classroom equipment, and other disability‑related equipment.

Knowledge of goal setting and assessments, and budget management.

Education and Experience Thesimilar educational requirement for this position is: a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation, Special Education or related field is required.

This position requires 3 years of experience in disability‑related services. Post‑secondary level experience providing services to students with disabilities is preferred.
