Job Description The Marketing Promo Producer Trainee Program is a 12‑18 month accelerated program to train early career Marketing Promo Producers in our local NBC San Diego station. The Marketing Promo Producer Trainee is assigned a mentor who is an experienced staff member. Marketing Promo Producer Trainees also undergo an intense week‑long orientation filled with workshops, lunches with guest speakers and leaders, and formal training.
Daily responsibilities to include
Writing topical promos for daily newscasts
Editing promos for on‑air use
Topical social media posts for daily topical news using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tik Tok
Attending daily news meetings for assignments
Work with NBC and Telemundo Promotion Managers on division wide initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Experience
1‑2 years of experience in a newsroom, TV station, advertising agency or digital platform
1‑2 years of experience in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Business, Graphic Design, and/or Motion Animation
Must pass newsroom writing test
Eligibility Requirements
Must be willing to work at the location in San Diego, CA
Must be willing to travel for assignments
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Must be 18 years or older
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor's degree with emphasis on Broadcast Communications, Marketing, and/or Journalism
Background in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Business, Graphic Design, and/or Motion Animation
Strong writing skills
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects)
Ability to work with people and build relationships with other departments
Understanding of and experience on social media platforms
Exposure to non‑linear editing/shooting
Ability to think creatively and outside the box
May have had film or web video projects
Experience with commercial production or copy writing
Spanish language skills preferred
This position has been designated as
hybrid , which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in‑office requirements at any time.
