Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Medical Director to lead our clinical operations and ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will oversee medical management, compliance with healthcare regulations, and clinical development initiatives. This leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems, medical records management, and regulatory standards such as HIPAA and FDA regulations. The Medical Director will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote quality improvement, clinical research, and adherence to NCQA standards while guiding the organization toward excellence in healthcare delivery. The Medical Director is responsible for providing comprehensive medical oversight and clinical leadership for the Practice across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This position ensures that all professional medical services are delivered in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, quality of care, and clinical excellence.
Licensure & Travel Requirements Active, unrestricted physician licenses in both Pennsylvania (PA) and New Jersey (NJ) – required Ability and willingness to travel routinely to Practice locations in both states Maintain all licensure, credentialing, and good standing requirements throughout employment
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Oversight & Medical Direction Provide medical direction for all professional and clinical services in compliance with PA and NJ state law. Organize and oversee medical services delivered at all Practice locations. Ensure all patients receive appropriate, medically necessary care. Be available for emergency consultation and conduct emergency patient visits when clinically indicated. Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, and compliance activities.
Patient Care & Medical Records Ensure accurate, complete, and timely patient medical records. Review and co-sign clinical documentation as required by state law. Ensure informed consent is obtained prior to treatment, including disclosure of risks, complications, and provider credentials. Ensure patients receive appropriate emergency and follow-up care instructions.
Prior-to-Treatment Authorization Before authorizing medical treatment, ensure documentation and completion of: Patient history and physical examination Medical diagnosis and treatment recommendation Written treatment plan Signed informed consent Emergency and follow-up care instructions Complete and compliant medical records Signed and dated standing orders and clinical protocols
Delegation & Supervision Delegate medical services to Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other clinical personnel as permitted by PA and NJ law. Ensure written supervision and delegation agreements are executed and maintained. Monitor and evaluate clinical performance of all providers.
Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance Lead and oversee the Practice-wide Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program. Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and standards. Assist in developing and approving clinical practice guidelines. Advise on the development of new medical programs, initiatives, and services.
Clinical Protocols & Training Develop, review, and approve all clinical protocols and standing orders. Ensure staff adherence to approved protocols. Oversee clinical training programs covering: Procedural techniques Indications and contraindications Pre- and post-procedure care Recognition and management of complications Infection control standards Ensure Basic Life Support (BLS)–trained personnel are present during all procedures.
Facility & Personnel Oversight Ensure all clinical personnel are clearly identified by name and credentials. Ensure required patient complaint notices are posted in accordance with PA and NJ law. Confirm all facilities meet regulatory signage and notice requirements.
Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school Active, unrestricted physician licenses in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey Board-certified or board-eligible (preferred) Prior experience as a Medical Director or in a clinical leadership role Strong knowledge of multi-state healthcare compliance and delegation laws Ability to work full time and travel between PA and NJ locations as required
Compensation:
$200,000 to $250,000 annually
