As Partnerships Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of partnerships across the organization. You will be responsible for building go‑to‑market plans for partnerships while coordinating across various Business Units and Functions within the organization to scope, execute and activate partnerships. You will work closely with the Head of Partnerships to ensure smooth project execution and success of partnerships that support the business. In addition, you will establish and refine playbooks and Partnership operating model to govern partnerships across the organization.
Responsibilities Partnership execution and stakeholder management
Engage with the business units to understand pain points and value drivers and solutions that serve the innovation economy
Lead senior Business Unit and Function leaders in developing and executing commercial plans, including distribution model, lead generation, marketing/brand/PR, operations, risk and compliance, and technical requirements to realize the full value of a partnership
Define performance management and synergy tracking process (e.g., KPIs, scorecards, etc.) and monitor success on ongoing basis
Partner relationship management and ecosystem engagement
Engage with companies in market to prospect potential partner solutions that deliver value to SVB clients, augment product offers or unlock channels for lead prospecting
Negotiate and secure mutually beneficial partnerships that serve SVB clients and the SVB business units
Act as a community builder across innovation economy companies and firms, finding creative ways to engage founders and augment the SVB brand in a highly competitive market
Strategy and operating model
Oversee the Partnership operating model and playbooks, making changes as needed to meet business and enterprise needs
Lead team through annual planning and business reviews, ensuring operating model and strategy are relevant in a fast-changing environment
Develop strategic portfolio reviews for partnerships
Align partnerships with cross enterprise strategy, objectives & roadmap
Identify synergies (revenue and cost) and minimize day‑to‑day impact on business
Understand organizational cultures in play and create a credible plan to bridge the differences
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Partnership OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Partnership
Preferrred Qualifications:
12+ years of relevant professional experience required
Previous experience in innovation economy partnerships preferred
Experience in commercial banking sales; ideally experience with LFI risk and compliance
Ability to quickly secure buy‑in from senior leaders across the organization
Ability to motivate and create enthusiasm while working through others – trainer, coach, and mentor
Results focused, attentive to detail, and process‑oriented
Senior individual with proven track record
Strong communicator and polished presenter
Comfortable with leading teams through ambiguity
Preferred Area of Experience: Commercial partnerships, commercial banking, LFI experience
For San Francisco, the base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $177,000-$236,000 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay.
