*Work hours willfrequentlybe flexed to support department needs. This includesa daily8-hour shift between 8am-9pm Monday through Friday as needed, in addition to some weekend hours.
The Assistant Athletic Director&Physical Education Teacher is a dual-role position that supports the Athletic Director in the daily operation, supervision, and advancement of the school’s PreK–12 athletic programs while also serving as a Physical Education teacher. This role plays a critical part in ensuring strong athletic operations, regulatory compliance, and a positive student-athlete experience, while delivering high-quality, developmentallyappropriate physicaleducation instruction that promotes lifelong wellness, movement, and character development.
This position requires a collaborative, organized, and student-centered professional who is comfortable balancing leadership, operational support, and teaching responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists the Athletic Director in planning, scheduling, and supervising athletic events and practices across grades PreK–12
Coordinates transportation, officials, facilities, and game-daylogisticsfor home and away contests
Assistswith compliance of athletic league, conference, and state athletic association regulations
Serves as a liaison between coaches, students, families, faculty, and administration
Supports the athletic director with hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluation of coaches
Assistswith budgeting,purchasing, and inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms
Oversees maintenance and organization of athletic facilities and storage areas
Promotes sportsmanship, leadership, accountability, and character development
Monitors practices and contests
Supports social media, communication, and promotion of athletic events
Assistswithspecial eventssuch as tournaments, awards banquets, youth camps, andcommunity events
Assistswith the administrative and operational duties for youth sports programming
Designs and delivers developmentallyappropriate PhysicalEducation curriculum
Teaches foundational movement skills, fitness concepts, and team/individual sports
Creates an inclusive learning environment emphasizing effort, confidence, and growth
Differentiates instruction to meet diverse abilities and developmental stages
Maintains a safe and organized PE environment
Collaborates with faculty on school-wide wellness and character initiatives
Tracks student progress and communicates with families as appropriate
Assistswith coaching and extracurricular athletics as assigned
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Understanding of PreK–12 athletic programming and physical development
Effective classroom and behavior management skills
Collaborative, flexible, and solution-oriented mindset
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Kinesiology, or related field
Valid Ohio teaching license in Physical Educationpreferred
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in coaching,physical education, or athletic administration
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
Coaching experiencerequired
Ability to stand, walk, run, and supervise activities for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Visual and auditory ability to respond to emergencies andensure student safety at all times
