Position Overview The Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in marketing and also offers marketing courses in the M.S. in Innovation and Management graduate program. To accomplish our mission, a significant portion of our teaching faculty should have professional experience in practicing marketing. We seek experienced marketing professionals capable of teaching a variety of established courses within our curriculum. Candidates should review the specific course descriptions at

to identify their potential teaching areas and we are also interested in candidates capable of developing coursework in contemporary industry‑relevant areas such as social media marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses in on‑campus and/or online formats, ensuring high‑quality, engaging instruction.

Incorporate real‑world applications and experiential learning to enhance student understanding of marketing principles and practices.

Stay current with industry trends, professional standards, and advancements in marketing education to maintain course relevance.

Foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant marketing certification (e.g., AMA Professional Certified Marketer (PCM®), Google Analytics Certification, HubSpot Content Marketing Certification, Digital Marketing Certification).

Ph.D. in Marketing or a related field.

Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in marketing.

Strong knowledge of current industry trends and practices in areas such as digital marketing, branding, consumer behavior, market research, or strategic marketing.

Successful Candidate Will

Be committed to supporting, mentoring, and inspiring students from all backgrounds.

Be committed to utilizing effective pedagogy that involves students in the learning process.

Have the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students in a dynamic environment.

Application Materials The application pool is maintained for up to two years. After the pool period, candidates will be notified to resubmit if continued consideration is desired. Non‑tenure‑track appointments may be part‑time or full‑time and vary in duration. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and the duration of the appointment.

A letter of application that includes (1) why you are interested in teaching in the marketing option in the Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship, and (2) what classes/marketing topics you are most qualified to teach.

A copy of the graduate‑level academic transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable at the time of application; official transcripts required upon hire).

Position Special Requirements / Additional Information

The position for which you have applied MAY BE a union position. Union affiliation is determined by job duties and the collective bargaining unit.

Non‑Tenure‑Track Faculty – Any position that is 0.5 FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues. This is a condition of employment. Additional information can be found at AFMSU or by emailing AFSMU.

Any position less than 0.5 FTE is not represented by the Union and is not required to pay dues.

If the FTE changes during employment, the representational status of this position could be impacted.

Exceptions: Anyone having successfully completed a PEI exam or any faculty working in Extension are exempt from the Union.
