Bon Secours Mercy Health Seeking Director of Trauma for General Surgery in 2024!
Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking to hire a Director of Trauma for General Surgery at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. The director will oversee the quality of patient care and provide professional direction to the clinical department, in partnership with the Medical Director/Hospital Director, Departmental Chair, Chief of the Medical Staff, and Hospital Executive Committee. Responsibilities include patient triage, development of admission and discharge criteria, compliance enforcement, and protocol development.
The general surgeons may perform operations to treat or prevent diseases, repair injuries, correct deformities, and improve functions on an urgent basis.
Job Details:
Diagnose injuries and diseases, prescribe medication or surgery. Order and analyze tests like X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. Determine if surgery is warranted based on patient records and examinations. Perform examinations, explain procedures, and discuss risks. Perform surgical procedures adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols. Decide on the type of surgery and coordinate staff and supplies. Order antibiotics, diets, sedatives, and other pre/post-operative treatments. Schedule operations and plan procedures. Perform surgeries and conduct emergency and floor consultations. Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests. Conduct admitting history and physicals. Perform minor bedside procedures and wound care. Work schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with 7 days/month call. Average patients per day: 20-30. Practice setting: Outpatient, administrative, multi-specialty group. Typical day: 5.5 days in clinic, 3.5 days in OR, 4 hours/week admin. Practice support in place, teaching opportunities available. Benefits & Compensation:
