This position is responsible for organizing, implementing and programming youth and adult activities and other special community events. Responsible for the readiness and maintenance of recreational facilities. Lead and instruct program participants of all ages; to include program instructors, counselors, and volunteers. Perform a variety of administrative duties related to day-to-day operation of the department, facilities and programs. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other variable hours as necessary during special events and activities. Essential Functions

Responsible for the programming of youth and adult activities; including the development of activities, scheduling, introducing new programs, recruiting and retaining instructors, increasing participation, including registration process, collecting fees, implementing evaluations. Design and produce youth and adult programs flyers; design quarterly schedule brochures advertising programs and facility schedule; submit press releases; research new and innovative ideas for programs and marketing, complete wrap-up summary and budget analysis. Responsible for supervising day and evening programs, checking in participants, closeout paperwork, posting payments, facility cleanliness and readiness, securing and closing facility. Responsible for all aspects of recruitment, promotion, reporting, financial and separation of instructors for programs and contracted staff. Follow parameters of budget directly associated with youth and adult activities programming, manage and maintain inventory of supplies, communicate all aspects of related activity to Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Manager. Assist with department’s website and social media platforms, work with Communications staff to ensure website and/or social media platforms are current, operational, user friendly, well researched and properly advertised. Assists in the responsibility of the general operations of the front desk, ensure all cash, check and credit receipts, reporting, auditing, and posting of program, concession and all other monies are entered accurately and in a timely manner, work with department employees to ensure excellent customer service and training, ensure part-time staff are current on all programs and services provided by the department. Assist with youth and adult activities and special events and assume responsibility for delegated tasks, as needed. Responds to inquiries and greets the public in a courteous, helpful, and tactful manner. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of, and adheres to all, established department and Town policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as necessary and consistent with the position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external customers and contacts. Ability to work under tight deadlines and remain flexible when plans suddenly change. Attention to detail and ability to juggle many activities at once in a fast-paced environment. Talent for creative problem solving. Ability to work independently. Ability to generate special events revenue through sponsorships, donations and ticket sales. Ability to resolve conflict among program participants with firmness and tact. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Physical Requirements

Must frequently lift and/or move more than forty (40) pounds and occasionally assist in lifting and/or moving more than one hundred (100) pounds. Required to move; stand, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and sit. Acceptable vision abilities required with or without correction. Ability to hear normal conversational speech and the ability to distinguish between different sounds in a noisy environment. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; coursework in early childhood education or recreation education preferred. • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in organized recreation, youth sports leagues, summer camp preferred. • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications. Special Requirements

• Must pass Level II background screening. • Must have a current CPR / AED certification or obtain within one (1) year of hire. • Valid State of Florida Driver License.
