Job Description: Leads the design, development and delivery of advanced networking software on all Junos/EVO platforms and cloud‑native platforms. Oversees engineering teams responsible for building and delivering intelligence in the network and about the network, leveraging AI/ML for AI‑Ops to significantly improve customer experience. Defines technical strategy, architecture and execution plans to align with business objectives across routing and switching protocols.

Provides strategic direction and thought leadership for globally distributed engineering teams. Applies deep subject‑matter expertise to solve complex technical and organizational challenges. Influences company‑wide technology decisions and drives engineering excellence. Operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, setting priorities and managing resources to achieve long‑term goals.

This role is part of the Routing, Switching Protocols and Intelligence team leadership, based in Sunnyvale, CA, with teams spread across the US and India. The team is responsible for building and delivering protocol innovations and network intelligence, using AI/ML for AI‑Ops to transform customer experience.

Responsibilities:

Lead the Routing, Switching Protocols and Intelligence team and drive innovative initiatives in protocols and intelligence.

Champion AI adoption to increase team productivity and enhance customer experience through AI‑Ops.

Foster strong relationships across customers in Cloud, Service Provider, Data Center, Campus and Branch segments.

Represent HPE Networking in strategic customer engagements and industry forums.

Build and mentor high‑performing engineering teams; energize, motivate and inspire large distributed teams through excellent communication and leadership.

Establish and enforce best practices for software development, testing and deployment across multiple product lines.

Collaborate with executive leadership, product management and cross‑functional teams to align engineering priorities with business objectives.

Mentor and foster leadership talent on both management and technical career ladders.

Manage budgets, resource allocation and vendor relationships to optimize delivery and cost efficiency.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.

15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 8 years in leadership roles managing large, distributed teams.

Proven track record of delivering complex software products in networking, cloud or enterprise environments.

Knowledge and Skills:

Deep expertise in routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, MPLS, EVPN) and network intelligence solutions.

Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application in network automation and AI‑Ops.

Exceptional leadership and communication skills to energize, motivate and inspire globally distributed teams.

Ability to define technical strategy and translate it into actionable plans.

Experience with budgeting, resource planning and organizational scaling.

Mastery in English; ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading engineering teams in cloud‑native networking, hyperscale data centers and service provider environments.

Familiarity with AI‑driven network operations, predictive analytics and automation frameworks.

Strong background in protocol innovation, including emerging standards for routing and switching.

Demonstrated success in customer‑facing roles, representing technology strategy to executive stakeholders.

Proven ability to scale organizations globally, balancing innovation with operational excellence.

Thought leadership in open networking, SDN and intent‑based networking.
