Overview Serves as a liaison between the company and agents, acting as a relationship manager for agents, regional underwriting team, and corporate departments. The role assesses agents, assists them in achieving profitable growth, ensures familiarity with Selective’s initiatives, products, policies, and procedures, and conducts training.
Responsibilities
Develop a profitable agency force familiar with Selective’s initiatives, products, policies, procedures and services.
Make consistent underwriting decisions, adhere to company pricing philosophies, and promote ease of doing business with Selective.
Monitor agency results and follow up with agents regarding growth, profitability, share of wallet, and compliance with company initiatives, procedures and policies.
Develop professional relationships with agents, underwriting, claim teams, and corporate departments. Conduct underwriting, sales and IT training for agents and their staff.
Maintain two‑way communication between agents and the company; encourage use of all Selective systems including CLAS, PLUS and eSelect.
Perform inspections per Loss Control Guide, provide risk improvement recommendations and follow up, documenting accordingly.
Stay alert for industry information, new ideas, products or changes that could impact Selective positively or negatively.
Audit agents’ One & Done book of business and provide quality assurance feedback.
Meet regularly with CMS, Loss Control Rep, Bond Rep and Personal Lines Rep to discuss agency results and growth opportunities.
Travel within territory (40–50% of time) requiring a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
Results‑oriented with a proven track record in achieving business goals.
Seasoned AMS with proven track record.
Superior communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
High achiever with superior organizational skills, self‑motivated, pro‑active, flexible and able to work independently from a remote location.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and all internal business‑related software.
Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
Education and Experience
College degree preferred with 6+ years underwriting, marketing or field underwriting experience.
Preferred experience: 4 years Agency Management and rating, 3 years Claims/ Loss Control‑inspection.

Pay Range USD $97,000.00 – USD $133,000.00 per year.
