JOB SUMMARY
The College of Nursing and Public Health at Adelphi University invites applications for the inaugural Director of the Physician Assistant Program. This open‑rank faculty position will be based in Adelphi’s new Manhattan Center and will provide overall leadership and administrative oversight for the program, ensuring it meets and exceeds the standards set by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA). The Director will lead development, implementation, and management of curriculum and operations, foster a positive learning environment, and support student success.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Create, develop, admit, operationalize, and manage a new PA program at Adelphi University, shaping its distinctive presence in the NYC market.
Develop and maintain all ARC‑PA required accreditation candidacy documents and oversee ongoing assessment and compliance.
Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the program’s curriculum.
Recruit, orient, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff, responding to personnel issues and supporting faculty development.
Participate in student performance evaluation and academic counseling.
Demonstrate teaching and curriculum expertise, faculty development and mentorship skills, and enthusiasm for inter‑professional collaboration.
Manage the program’s budget and ensure resources support operations.
Expand and maintain clinical affiliations with sites and physician preceptors to provide high‑quality rotation experiences.
Serve as the primary administrator for the new Manhattan Center location.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Licensure as a Physician Assistant in NY State with a minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical practice.
Relevant doctoral degree preferred.
At least three (3) years of experience in academic administration, health professions teaching, or faculty development.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and the PA program accreditation process.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

SALARY INFORMATION In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range is $150,000 – $175,000. Adelphi University considers budgets, responsibilities, experience, education, and market factors when extending an offer. Above‑range compensation may be considered for exceptional candidates. A comprehensive benefits package is provided to faculty and staff.
