Overview
Title: Director of Operations
Client: Home Healthcare (Non Skilled)
Location: Columbus or Cleveland, OH area
Salary: $90,000-125,000 base
We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on
Director of Operations
to launch and lead a non-skilled home care agency from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced home care professional to build and scale a new operation with full ownership over setup, staffing, systems, and growth. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, operational expertise, and the drive to build an agency that delivers exceptional care to the communities it serves.
Initially a solo role, this position is expected to grow into a leadership position overseeing 14 administrative staff and 450 caregivers, with a target of reaching 50 active patients in the first year.
Key Responsibilities
Agency Buildout & Launch
Identify, lease, and set up the agency’s physical office space
Coordinate utilities setup (phone, internet) and manage contractors for signage, cubicles, and IT infrastructure
Serve as the primary on-site leader during the initial buildout phase
Operations Management
Oversee daily business operations, including handling patient inquiries, client onboarding, and caregiver coordination
Develop and implement standard operating procedures and workflows for efficiency and compliance
System Implementation
Implement and manage essential software systems including
HHA Exchange
(scheduling/billing),
RingCentral
(phone system), and
Employ
(ATS)
Ensure systems are optimized for scalability, reporting, and compliance
Patient Growth & Business Development
Drive patient census growth by onboarding approximately 2 new clients per month
Support future marketing efforts by collaborating with business development staff targeting hospitals, ALFs, and community partnerships
Recruitment & Staffing
Lead caregiver hiring and onboarding, from initial contact through orientation
Create staffing plans and hiring strategies to support patient growth and caregiver retention
Licensing & Compliance
Manage credentialing and contracting with additional
Managed Care Organizations (MCOs)
to expand into new service areas
Partner with consultants to ensure regulatory and licensing requirements are met in all operating markets
Caregiver Training & Development
Develop an employee handbook and training curriculum for onboarding caregivers
Oversee training on tools such as the HHA Exchange mobile app to ensure caregiver compliance and readiness
Financial Oversight (Operations)
Monitor key financial and operational KPIs, including staffing costs, patient growth, and budget adherence
Work closely with outsourced billing partners, applying your knowledge of P&L to support decision-making
Qualifications
10+ years
of progressive experience in
home care operations , including roles such as Intake Coordinator, Director of Intake, or Director of Operations
Prior experience
launching or scaling
a non-skilled home care agency strongly preferred
Proficiency with
HHA Exchange
or comparable home care software
Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and handle a wide range of responsibilities
