Save Job

177 Milk Street is a national culinary media company seeking a Circulation Director to manage our print and digital subscription business. This is a hands‑on role managing the full lifecycle of membership—from acquisition and conversion through renewal and retention—across both our digital platform and bimonthly print magazine.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable analyzing renewal rates in a spreadsheet and troubleshooting technical integrations between subscription platforms. You’ll work closely with our customer data platform vendor (Omeda), manage email marketing campaigns in Klaviyo, and coordinate with developers on paywall and authentication issues.

Subscription & Membership Management

Manage all renewal programs: advance renewals, automatic renewals, positive option conversions, and trial offer conversions

Oversee gift membership programs (new and renewal)

Handle membership upgrades and price testing

Maintain and manage all renewal, billing, and conversion schedules

Data & Analytics

Track and report weekly on renewal rates, response rates, file size, and conversion metrics

Update membership model monthly including budgets, annual reforecasts, and 5‑year plans

Manage cash projections for all membership revenue (weekly, monthly, annual) and reconcile forecast to actual

Build and maintain a circulation dashboard in collaboration with internal teams

Marketing & Campaigns

Plan and execute membership promotion activities across channels: direct mail, physical renewal forms, automated email sequences, and digital campaigns

Manage our Klaviyo email marketing platform including list hygiene, segmentation, new adds, and unsubscribes

Oversee the creation and performance of website popups and paywalls

Vendor & Platform Management

Serve as primary liaison with Omeda (customer data platform) for day-to-day operations, technical troubleshooting, and strategic projects

Manage the Omeda customer database, including data hygiene and authentication/paywall functionality

Coordinate with payment processors and ensure credit cards are validated before billing

Manage relationships with other vendors: postal lettershop, fulfillment (Kable), USPS, telephone answering service

Print Operations

Manage the mailing of our bimonthly magazine including print orders and issue mailings

Handle postal statement of ownership

Compliance & Customer Service

Ensure legal and regulatory compliance: privacy regulations, FTC requirements, and state regulations for online and recurring sales

Oversee Omeda‑managed customer service operations

Please submit your application via email to wkimball@177milkstreet.com, chris@cpkkitchen.com, and nzhang@cpkkitchen.com with the subject line APPLICANT: Circulation Director. Applications submitted elsewhere will not be considered.

Qualifications

Experience in circulation, audience development, or subscription management—ideally at a publisher with both print and digital products

Hands‑on experience with customer data platforms (Omeda experience strongly preferred)

Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar)

Comfort with data analysis: you can build reports, spot trends, and make recommendations

Strong project management skills and attention to detail

Ability to work cross‑functionally with marketing, editorial, finance, and technical teams

Understanding of (or willingness to learn) how paywalls, authentication systems, and website integrations work at a technical level
