As organizations across the nation face increasingly complex challenges, the need for thoughtful, ethical, and purpose-driven leaders continues to grow. Bethany Lutheran College is launching a new

Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership , a 30-credit graduate program shaped by our Christian worldview and our shared belief that leadership is a calling—one in which individuals use their God-given gifts in service to others.

Bethany Lutheran College seeks a

Director

to lead this new program. This full-time, 12-month position includes

12 credits of teaching annually , with the remainder of the workload dedicated to program leadership, administration, recruitment, marketing collaboration, strategic development, assessment, and adjunct faculty coordination. The Director will guide the program’s academic direction and culture, helping students grow as reflective, capable leaders who understand their work as part of their vocation.

We seek candidates who are energized by launching a graduate program, connecting with adult learners, and shaping an engaging and mission-driven learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to create, articulate, and sustain a shared vision for a graduate leadership program that reflects Bethany’s Christian mission and helps students explore how their professional paths connect with their sense of calling and service.

Strong administrative, leadership, and managerial skills, with the ability to oversee program operations including curriculum development, scheduling, assessment, marketing coordination, and program growth.

Ability to recruit, supervise, support, and evaluate adjunct instructors with an eye toward high-quality, mission-aligned instruction.

Exceptional interpersonal and relational abilities, demonstrating warmth and a service-minded approach to guiding adult learners.

Excellent teaching, facilitation, and public speaking skills, with familiarity in areas such as leadership theory, organizational behavior, change leadership, strategic planning, coaching, or talent development.

Strong ability to design applied learning experiences—case studies, organizational analyses, leadership development plans, experiential activities that support adult learner engagement and professional growth.

A commitment to data-informed decision-making and continuous program improvement.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic graduate-program environment.

Ability and willingness to work some evenings or weekends to support graduate student needs.

A commitment to modeling and encouraging Christian servant leadership in daily interactions with students and colleagues.

Education and Experience

Earned doctorate in Organizational Leadership, Leadership Studies, Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Higher Education Leadership, Public Administration, Nonprofit Leadership, or a closely related field (ABD considered with clear evidence of completion).

Demonstrated administrative or leadership experience in higher education, graduate education, leadership development, consulting, training and development, or related professional settings.

Experience teaching adult or graduate learners strongly preferred, including experience with online or hybrid formats.

Evidence of scholarship, professional involvement, or applied practice in leadership development, organizational effectiveness, or related fields.

Membership of an

ELS/WELS congregation is preferred . All candidates must demonstrate a meaningful commitment to the Christian mission of Bethany Lutheran College, including support for helping students understand leadership through the lens of vocation and service.

Demonstrated experience guiding individuals in clarifying professional goals, vocational identity, and leadership purpose is highly valued.
