About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its legal services organization. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a deep commitment to racial and economic justice, and a proven ability to lead with equity. This role is pivotal in the company's history, as it anticipates significant growth and seeks a leader who can clarify a forward-looking vision, model a culture of transparency and inclusion, and elevate the organization's visibility and advocacy voice. The Executive Director will be responsible for strategic leadership, organizational and people management, external affairs, and financial and operational oversight. They must be a skilled relationship builder, with strong political acumen, and be prepared to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government funders, community organizations, and client communities.

Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a J.D. and be admitted to the New York State Bar, or be eligible and willing to gain admission within one year. A minimum of 15 years of legal experience, with a focus on public interest law or legal services, is required. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful government relations, fundraising, and community engagement, and be an effective communicator with a strong public presence. Experience in managing senior teams, overseeing significant budgets, and working closely with a board of directors is essential. The role demands a leader who can foster a workplace culture of respect, inclusion, and transparency, and who is dedicated to ensuring that the organization remains a responsive and grounded provider of legal services to the community.
