Temporary Extension Assistant (Retreats & Rentals Director)
The Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center, part of NC State University and located in Reidsville, NC, is seeking a temporary Extension Assistant (Retreats & Rentals Director) for Fall 2025, with the potential to transition into a full‑time, benefitted NCSU Extension Assistant position in the future. The Penn 4‑H Center offers day and overnight programs to elementary, middle, and high school students on 220 acres during fall and spring, as well as weekend retreats and summer camp programs. Responsibilities
Manage reservation and contract process with all rental and retreat groups. Secure lodging, room layouts, dietary needs, and program waiver forms from user groups. Provide on‑site guest services by preparing event signage, guest keys, and other services requested by the user group. Meet with potential user groups and facilitate tours as requested. Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator for all user groups during the non‑summer camp season. Assist in cleaning of facilities and equipment as necessary. Work with Food Service and Maintenance supervisors to provide facility and support needs of user groups. Collaborate with the Program Director when user groups request on‑site programming needs. Maintain the Center’s social media accounts year round. Capture and develop year‑round marketing items such as photographs and brochures. Provide support to the Center Advisory Board and committees related to program areas under his/her leadership. Schedule and Compensation
Varies, but generally 5–6 work days per week with some weekend work required. This position requires long workdays, on‑call responsibilities, and ends in mid‑December. A private room in the staff house is included during the duration of employment, if needed. Bachelor’s degree preferably in Education, Recreation, Counseling, or a similar field with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Experience working with the public. Knowledge of 4‑H programs and the Land Grant University mission. Excellent organizational skills. Experience with data management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and Google applications. Experience with social media platforms. Experience with marketing through photography, brochures, or similar. Prior experience working at a summer camp or conference facility. Required Documents
