Private Equity Business Development Senior Associate or Associate About the Role

The Associate / Senior Associate of Business Development will support and execute origination and relationship management efforts for a middle market private equity firm. This individual will work closely with senior business development and investment professionals to identify proprietary investment opportunities, maintain intermediary relationships, and support the firm’s sourcing infrastructure. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and motivated to build a long term career in private equity business development.

Key Responsibilities

Support the execution of the firm’s proprietary sourcing strategy, including market mapping, target company research, and investment theme development.

Conduct outbound outreach to intermediaries, executives, and other deal sources through calls, emails, meetings, and conferences.

Maintain and enhance relationships with investment bankers, brokers, advisors, and other market participants.

Manage and update the firm’s CRM, ensuring accurate data entry, activity tracking, and pipeline reporting.

Screen and evaluate inbound and outbound investment opportunities against the firm’s investment criteria.

Track platform and add on opportunities and coordinate closely with investment teams to ensure timely follow up and diligence support.

Prepare sourcing reports, pipeline summaries, and weekly or monthly activity updates for internal review.

Assist with business development initiatives including outreach campaigns, conference preparation, and marketing materials.

Support the adoption and use of sourcing tools, data platforms, and technology solutions to improve origination efficiency.

Collaborate with investment, operations, and investor relations teams to align sourcing activity with fund strategy and priorities.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

2 to 7 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate development, consulting, or a related business development or deal sourcing role.

Demonstrated interest in private equity origination and relationship driven investing.

Experience working with CRM systems and M&A data platforms such as DealCloud, Salesforce, PitchBook, SourceScrub, Grata, or CapIQ.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and proactive approach to outreach.

Detail oriented and analytical mindset with comfort working with data and reporting tools.

Bachelor’s degree required.
