Housing Manager Full time 35 hours per week
$42.17 per hour
Cedar Strong is a non-profit society based in Hope, that provides client-centered programs/services to individuals and families. Through a trauma-informed approach, Cedar Strong offers housing, advocacy and education to build resilience, empowerment and inclusion. Cedar Strong currently employs over 80 staff members who support its programs and services.
Cedar Strong is hiring for a Housing Manger. The ideal candidate can provide experience, skills and ability to support and provide oversight of the emergency shelters, transition house and supportive housing programs.
The successful candidate will support the expansion and innovation of the housing programs and ensure the programs continued success.
The program manager will foster and maintain relationships with both staff, community partners and management.
The manager will advocate and educate to build resiliency, empowerment and inclusion of the clients Cedar Strong serve.
Responsibilities and duties
Works with the Executive Director and management team to develop and implement action plans, budgets and training processes for the housing programs
Identifies and fosters strategic relationships and partnerships to further housing programs
Evaluates and implements recommendations for program improvements to better address the needs of the clients
Produces monthly / quarterly program performance reports
Participates actively as a Cedar Strong representative in collaborative partner networks in related community, social and economic development activities
Oversee the daily operations of the housing programs including the emergency shelter, transition house and supportive housing programs
Provides effective efficient delivery of programs and services within policies and procedures, relevant legislation and professional standards
Provides coaching, mentorship and direction to the coordinators in the housing programs
Has a solid understanding of a Unionized environment
Supervises all program related facility maintenance, grounds, capital improvements and security
Ensure housing units are physically maintained, and all safety precautions are followed, including overseeing basic maintenance and security
Manage all client files, intakes, documents
Ensuring client confidentiality
Evaluates individual and program performance
Provides coverage for frontline staff in cases where other staffing options are not available
Overseas operational budgets
Research and leads the application of funding opportunities
Assist in recruitment, development and support of staff
Manages, scheduling for all shifts
Monitors staff attendance
Attend and leads staff meetings and other related meetings within the community
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work/ housing management and at least two years’ experience at a supervisory level
Knowledge and experience in the provision of housing support services
Knowledge of community resources in the Hope and Surrounding area including the Fraser Valley an asset
Knowledge and understanding of homelessness, substance use, abuse and or violence in diverse communities
Strong interpersonal communication and presentations skills with the ability to problem solve
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead projects and work with diverse individuals
Understanding of a union environment an asset
Willingness to work flexible hours as required
Valid BC driver’s license and access to reliable vehicles are required
Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable population
