The Board of Accountancy Investigator is responsible for investigating complaints and allegations concerning certified public accountants, accounting firms, and public accountants. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Functions
Investigates all complaints reported to the Board of Accountancy regarding accountants and accounting firms. Responds to all requests for information concerning accountancy law and board rules from staff and public. Determines criteria for reinstatement of lapsed or revoked accountant certificates. Prepares supporting documentation for disciplinary hearings. Prepares reports for compliance committee regarding ongoing complaints. Performs other duties as assigned. Dimensions
None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of state accountancy laws and regulations. Knowledge of investigative techniques. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and materials. Ability to record, compile, and present evidence. Ability to research, interpret, and apply state and federal laws and departmental policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in accounting, or a related field; plus five years of work related experience. Must be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
