This role reports to the Corporate Controller and leads the accounting and financial operations for Questbank and Community Trust Company (CTC). Responsibilities
People: Develop and maintain a skilled accounting and financial operations function; provide impactful leadership and coaching to the team; foster continuous improvement and collaboration within the team and broader finance organization. Accounting / GL: Oversee end-to-end accounting operations (product accounting for mortgages, deposits, credit cards, and new product launches; securitization; debt financing; hedge accounting; bank reconciliations; accounts payable; treasury support; related party transactions; project cost tracking; corporate allocation reporting); ensure IFRS and FRFI policy compliance; maintain optimized chart of accounts and profitability reporting; manage complex financial instruments accounting; lead IFRS implementation efforts. Internal Controls / Processes: Implement and continuously improve processes to support growth and meet close timelines; ensure compliance with financial policies and FRFI policies; develop and maintain robust internal controls; contribute to year-end audit processes and remediation of findings; maintain documentation for audit readiness. Projects / Technology: Manage the financial systems (Netsuite, Procurity, Gatekeeper, Kyriba, Blackline); optimize workflow with Blackline; enable finance for enterprise initiatives and new product launches (e.g., Temenos); drive automation and data lake initiatives; ensure data accuracy from source systems for reporting. Leadership & Collaboration: Serve as a key member of the finance leadership team; collaborate with internal audit and cross-functional partners; foster strong relationships across FRFIs and QFG finance to achieve enterprise objectives. What we are looking for
Hold a professional accounting designation (CPA-CA) 5+ years of progressive leadership experience within a Financial Regulated Financial Institution (FRFI) or equivalent 10+ years of comprehensive finance and accounting experience In-depth knowledge of IFRS with specialized expertise in IFRS 9 and hedge accounting Strong understanding of FRFI regulatory framework and reporting requirements Solid comprehension of financial statements for deposit-taking institutions Advanced proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance accounting operations and an interest in emerging fintech Attention to detail with strategic perspective on consolidated entity impacts Track record of leading complex finance projects and cross-functional collaboration Proactive issue identification, initiative, and solution development Strong critical thinking, independent and collaborative work style, and a solutions-oriented mindset Ability to motivate teams, establish collaborative relationships, and communicate openly to manage deliverables Thrives in a dynamic environment with adaptability to organizational change Additional
