Overview
The Mortgage Loan Officer (Veterans Only) is responsible for generating and closing mortgage loan applications while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and company policies. This role emphasizes sales targets, compliance, and community engagement, particularly focusing on the veteran community. The Mortgage Loan Officer acts as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the mortgage process, providing tailored financial guidance and maintaining open communication to achieve successful loan closings. This is a salaried position with commission opportunities and benefits.
Key Responsibilities Client Acquisition and Sales:
Identify and target prospective clients, particularly within the veteran community, to generate mortgage loan leads.
Educate clients on loan products, interest rates, and payment options, focusing on VA loan programs and other veteran-specific benefits.
Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed monthly loan origination targets.
Build and maintain relationships with referral partners, including real estate agents, financial advisors, and veteran organizations.
Loan Origination and Processing:
Collect and review required client documentation, including income verification, asset statements, and credit reports.
Assist clients in completing accurate and comprehensive loan applications.
Submit loan files for underwriting and coordinate with processors to resolve discrepancies and meet closing deadlines.
Monitor loan status, communicate updates to clients, and address any outstanding conditions to ensure timely closings.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Adhere to all federal, state, and company regulations regarding mortgage lending, particularly VA loan requirements.
Maintain accurate records of all client interactions and loan documentation to ensure audit readiness.
Identify potential risks or discrepancies in loan files and take corrective action as needed.
Community Outreach and Veteran Support:
Serve as a resource for veterans seeking mortgage information and financial guidance.
Participate in community outreach events, workshops, and seminars aimed at educating veterans about homeownership and mortgage options.
Develop marketing materials and educational content to promote veteran-specific mortgage products and services.
Training and Development:
Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and new loan products.
Attend ongoing training sessions to maintain knowledge of VA loan guidelines and best practices in mortgage lending.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Previous experience in mortgage lending, sales, or financial services preferred; military experience highly valued.
Skills:
Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record of meeting sales targets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in mortgage software and financial analysis tools.
Ability to work independently while managing a diverse client portfolio.
