Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking a detail-oriented and student-focused Financial Aid Advisor I to join our Financial Aid Office. This position plays a critical role in helping students navigate the financial aid process, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, and supporting student success through financial literacy and access. Job Duties

Provide front-line customer service to students, families, and staff regarding financial aid processes and deadlines. Assist with the intake and review of financial aid applications and documentation. Enter and update student data in financial aid systems with accuracy. Maintain organized student files in compliance with FERPA and other regulations. Respond to general inquiries via phone, email, and in person. Support outreach events and financial aid workshops. Perform basic verifications on submitted documentation. Refer complex or unusual cases to senior staff or supervisors. Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with financial aid policies, software, and best practices. Assist with other duties such as the scholarship process and special projects as assigned by the director of Financial Aid. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems Preferred Qualifications

Prefer a candidate with basic knowledge of financial aid terminology and processes. Additional Skills Required
