Assistant Director for Career Outcomes Assessment - The Career Center Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement (35%)

Oversee large-scale, institution-wide post-graduation survey efforts for multiple graduation cohorts (e.g., October, December, and May), in alignment with NACE standards and university needs and priorities. Collaborate with the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, the Division of Management Information, and college-level data specialists to support data collection and cleaning processes, and access to and distribution of raw data. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Illini Success initiative, manage communication channels, and coordinate regular meetings of stakeholders. Maintain and update Illini Success website content and project materials.

Data Management & Governance (30%)

Collect, clean, and integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., National Student Clearinghouse, employer reports, LinkedIn, internal systems) to ensure completeness, consistency, and quality of datasets. Contribute to and administer data governance policies to protect privacy, maintain confidentiality, and uphold ethical standards in data use. Maintain procedures and policies for secure data handling and compliance with institutional and national standards. Collaborate with campus partners to provide stakeholders with secure access to datasets and support responsible use, analysis, and distribution of college-level data through training and documentation. Maintain data dictionary and project documentation to ensure year-over-year consistency in data analysis and reporting, as well as sustainable management of assessment initiatives.

Data Analysis, Reporting & Insight Generation (25%)

Create, maintain, and refine automated statistical analyses and reports to inform career outcomes reporting, institutional planning, and strategic initiatives. Review and validate data and reports to ensure accuracy and integrity prior to distribution. Produce customized reports tailored to the needs of internal stakeholders, campus units, and external organizations (e.g., NACE). Contribute to development of dashboards and data visualizations to support planning and decision-making. Support departmental assessment activities to measure the influence of high-impact practices and interventions on student and organizational outcomes. Participate in benchmarking efforts and collaborative research projects with faculty, peer institutions or external partners.

Supervision and Administrative (10%)

Supervise and train part-time student staff, which may include a graduate research assistant, to support data cleaning, analyses, reporting, and special assessment projects. Contribute to the creation and delivery of presentations for a variety of audiences, including parents, prospective students, campus partners and external constituents. Participate in relevant institutional committees and working groups convened by The Career Center, Student Affairs and/or campus units, with a focus on assessment, outcomes, and institutional surveys. Engage in professional development to stay current on outcomes reporting, student success, and trends in higher education.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in educational research, higher education, social sciences, psychology, statistics, or a related field. One (1) year of work experience in data analysis, survey research, institutional research, or assessment in higher education, nonprofit, or similar settings. Demonstrated experience with one or more statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, Python). Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education, educational research, social sciences, or a related field. Experience in higher education, student services, or career services organizations. Experience designing or conducting surveys and reporting data related to college graduate outcomes or higher education. Experience with education data standards and reporting frameworks. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis. Experience handling confidential data and managing cross-functional projects with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of survey methods, interviews, and other data collection techniques. Familiarity with web content management systems and data dashboards. Supervisory experience or training/mentoring in research practices. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. Expected start date: as soon as possible after 7/7/2025. Salary range: $61,000 - $64,000. Final salary offered will be determined by market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience, and budget constraints. Application Procedures & Deadline Information
