Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift shift, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.

Summary

Develops and assesses departmental goals consistent with Children's Hospital philosophy, objectives, and programs. Responsible for personnel, fiscal, and general program management. Develops and maintains liaisons with other hospital departments and outside programs and agencies. Provides clinical services, including teaching, and research activities.

Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications

Essential:

  • Alabama Controlled Substances Registration
  • Licensed Pharmacist

Education with Equivalent Qualifications

Essential:

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy

Nonessential:

  • Masters Degree

Experience with Equivalent Qualifications

Essential:

  • 5 Years job experience as Supervisor Level with specialization in the field of Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to Children’s of Alabama Patients. Services include, compounding of sterile and non-sterile medication, pharmacokinetics, medication order verification, OR preference bags, hazardous medication dispensing and compounding, clinical pharmacy services, unit-dosing of medication, automatic dispensing machines (Pyxis), investigational study pharmacy, medication delivery and more. The pharmacy operates out of a central pharmacy located in the Benjamin Russell building. Decentralized services are provided by clinical pharmacists on the units and several pharmacy satellites (main campus OR, Children’s South, hematology/oncology clinic, Investigational Pharmacy). The pharmacy utilizes Epic, Epic Willow Inventory, bar code scanning, vertical carousels, and kit management software.
