Position Description: Executive Director (ExD) Job Type: Full-time Supervisor: Board of Trustees (Board)
The Executive Director works in partnership with the Minister to implement the congregation’s goals (Ends). The ExD oversees the administration, operations (includes information technology, human resources, facilities, and financial operations), and programming of the congregation.
Together with the senior minister, the ExD serves as the CEO/Chief-of-Staff of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia. The ExD and Minister comprise the Executive Team (ExT) that is defined by the UUCC Board-Staff Linkage policies, and the ExT is accountable for complying with Board Policies.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Ensures that UUCC office operations are smooth and continuous in serving congregants and supporting both paid and volunteer staff.
- Manages financial processes and data supporting UUCC’s annual operating budget
- Prepares the draft annual budget; and
- Monitors the implementation of the budget and payment of pledges.
- Provides support to Annual Budget Drive team and Auction Team in its annual fundraising effort;
- Supervises administrative staff members and serves as human resources manager for the organization.
- Provides administrative support to the Board, including consulting with the UUCC President in planning the Board’s monthly meetings, preparing monthly (and other periodic) reports from the ExT, and other materials necessary for the Board to perform its essential functions.
- Oversees various communication functions including the congregational database, internal and external communications strategy, and other systems.
- Works with outside service providers and consultants, including IT service providers, attorneys, banks, accountants, insurance providers, and other financial institutions.
- Serves as UUCC’s primary contact for the Owen Brown Interfaith Center (OBIC), including attendance at the regular meeting of the OBIC Board of Directors, support for UUCC’s OBIC directors, and consultation with and support of OBIC building management staff.
