Care Center Cincinnati is a Specialty & Emergency facility located in beautiful southwest, Ohio. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Medical Director to lead our dedicated team. Position Overview: The Medical Director's primary role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate, and comprehensive veterinary care. This leadership position involves maintaining a positive, professional work environment and upholding the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Working closely with the Hospital Director, the Medical Director acts as a medical subject matter expert, oversees the doctor team, and drives operational excellence.

Core Job Duties:

  1. Medical and Service Quality:
    • Oversees provision of medical care, supporting innovation and cutting-edge practices.
    • Develops and maintains medical policies, including infection control and patient safety.
    • Investigates patient safety concerns and supports quality improvement initiatives.
    • Champions a patient and client-centric approach through policy development.
    • Addresses client and RDVM complaints professionally and in a timely manner.
    • Provides clinical leadership by example, ensuring high-quality medicine and outstanding client experiences.
  2. Team Development:
    • Develops a team-oriented approach to patient care in collaboration with the Hospital Director.
    • Recruits and retains high-quality Veterinarians, overseeing engagement and retention metrics.
    • Conducts annual performance evaluations and manages concerns regarding DVM performance.
    • Supports internal and external medical educational opportunities, mentorship, and development plans.
    • Leads staff meetings.
  3. Community and Communication:
    • Ensures effective communication within the hospital and fosters positive relationships with referring veterinarians.
    • Monitors work email for pertinent information and maintains a respectful and inclusive hospital environment.
    • Represents the hospital at various internal and external meetings and other leadership opportunities.
  4. Hospital Operations and Compliance:
    • Oversees a number of doctors; support staff is supervised by HD.
    • 50% administrative time, 50% clinical.
    • Schedule: We ask for a grace of flexibility as-needed to attend to the hospital’s needs.
    • Manages hospital budget and Cap Ex in partnership with the HD.
    • Identifies areas for growth and develops plans for new services.
    • Provides medical input into hospital development, marketing, and equipment selection.
    • Ensures timely and accurate completion of medical records and compliance with regulations.
    • Attends leadership training and maintains compliance with state and federal regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Ohio.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and leadership skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience.
  • Advanced leadership training.
  • Experience mentoring and teaching junior veterinarians.

Location: Care Center is situated in Southwestern Ohio, rich in history, with a long list of attractions, a strong and diverse economy, and a variety of urban, suburban, and rural communities—a home for everyone!

Compensation/ Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation package: Based on experience, base salary ranges from $125,000 to $220,000, 22% production with increases and additional bonuses at 2, 5, 8, and 10 year tenure markers.
