About the Role: Provide Expert Inpatient Hospitalist Services

As a Hospitalist, you will provide comprehensive medical care, assessment, and management to adult patients admitted to the hospital. You will collaborate closely with nursing staff, consultants, and ancillary team members, ensuring safe, evidence-based care and a positive patient experience. Your contributions will help optimize patient flow, reduce readmissions, and enhance care coordination throughout the hospitalization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed patient history, physical examinations, and clinical assessments for adults admitted to the hospital.
  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, exacerbations of chronic disease, and medical complications within your scope of hospital medicine.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans with an emphasis on safety, quality, and patient preferences.
  • Lead daily multidisciplinary rounds, communicate clearly with patients, families, and care teams, and participate in discharge planning processes.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and make evidence-based decisions regarding interventions, treatment escalation, or specialist referral.
  • Document patient encounters, care plans, and transitions accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Contribute to hospital quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, promoting best practices in hospital medicine.
  • Champion a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and collaboration in all interactions with colleagues and patients.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • 1+ years of experience in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, or Occupational Medicine (hospitalist experience preferred).
  • Valid Medical Doctor (MD) license in the state of New Mexico (NM).

Schedule and Shift Details

Night shifts with option for 10- or 12-hour shifts.
