Working with the VP of Development, this San Diego, CA based Director of Technology Development will lead a team responsible for the ongoing management, enhancements, and new development of OEM solution initiatives supporting the Automotive Agency practice, specifically within the Enterprise Reporting area.
We are looking for a technology leader to bring innovation and strong development practices in the support of and creation of reporting and analytic applications. This position will manage a team of onshore and offshore employees and contractors through the delivery of an initiatives roadmap and be a leader of architectural design to meet the needs of our client programs.
Keys to success for this role will be the candidate’s ability to work cooperatively with an eco‑system of internal partners including Product Management, Production Support, and Analytics. This will require the Director of Technology Development to have strong collaborative instincts, strategic experience and confidence in architectural and delivery decision‑making. Importantly, the Director will also need demonstrable experience in bringing to market complex, integrated, Automotive solutions.
What You’ll Achieve
- Building and integrating systems and solutions to meet the company’s needs – including a focus on our cloud initiative.
- Management responsibility for team members and contractors and oversee the development of more junior team members.
- Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
- Designing and modifying technology architecture to meet required application functionality.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership over development teams comprised of both new application design/build and maintenance/break‑fix resources driving the stability and growth of an enterprise reporting database and ecosystem.
- Provide thought‑leadership related to solution architecture, solution capabilities, applied SDLC and application/database maintenance operations.
- Support development efforts within the group and resolve technical problems as they arise. This includes conceptual design, sizing and pricing, project plan development, proof‑of‑concept development, implementation and monitoring.
- Lead implementation teams to ensure quality, completeness and timeliness of solution delivery.
- Accountable for resource planning and management as well as monitoring and optimizing staff and delivery scope against prioritized targets.
- Scope and plan required application/database infrastructure needs to support client engagements and monitor the delivery of requested infrastructure deployments.
- Act as the initial contact for the project delivery teams regarding significant operational issues and challenges.
- Manage offshore development team, and knowledgeable around driving cost savings/efficiencies via offshore team.
- Stay abreast of latest technology trends and Epsilon’s product offerings to integrate into planning efforts, business development efforts and overall client technology roadmaps.
- Manage career growth and development of staff through coaching and mentoring. Set goals and monitor performance against those goals throughout the year.
- Communicate effectively with direct supervisor and upper management on engagement activities and overall health of the engagement. Synthesize relevant information on key achievements, success criteria, staff and client and risks. Advance critical issues appropriately.
- Responsible for overseeing and implementing continual process improvement initiatives; both corporate driven as well as individually defined.
Who You Are
What you’ll bring with you
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience managing complex IT projects, preferably in the automotive technology space; this individual should be comfortable managing the full development lifecycle.
- Have experience managing teams across multiple geographical and functional areas.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Full stack development including UI/UX design, micro services and database technologies.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with cloud based technologies.
- Have previous experience in on prem to cloud migration projects.
- Solid technical background in .net Microsoft stack, Angular, middleware API design, SQL Server, Oracle and Greenplum database technologies.
- Have experience managing in an environment with multi‑country/cultural teams.
- Be an expert in agile, full development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Have excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Have the ability to manage multiple, high priority efforts effectively under deadline pressure.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including ability to clearly articulate to groups.
- Outstanding leadership ability, including ability to develop and motivate diverse teams.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies and analytic driven solutions is a plus.
- Understanding of marketing technologies tool sets.
- Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed environment with multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate advanced technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Strategic problem solver that constantly challenges clients and teams to improve.
- Self‑starter and results driven.

Compensation Range: $132,715 - $199,760 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third‑party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
