Project Director – Architecture
Join the HNTB team as a Project Director – Architecture, leading complex multimodal transportation projects with a flagship project onsite in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
What We’re Looking For
This position is onsite in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. You will spearhead the profitable operation of projects or mega projects with revenue exceeding $3,000,000 annually, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Has full responsibility for managing all aspects of mega projects.
- Prepares strategic plans for project success.
- Coordinates all project efforts, administrative and technical, to assure efficient and cost‑effective execution.
- Serves as primary liaison contact with clients to bring projects to completion on schedule, within budget, and with maximum client satisfaction.
- Provides oversight and monitoring of work to less experienced project managers.
- Actively manages client’s budget, schedule, and program; maintains HNTB budget and schedule; ensures project communications, documentation, office administrative tasks, and project team assignments.
- Estimates fees, determines scope of work, and prepares proposals and contracts for the most complex projects of the largest magnitude.
- Coordinates work efforts and reviews work performed.
- Provides for quality management.
- Acts as a champion for the team.
- Responsible for hiring, firing, promotion, discipline, performance review, work allocation, training and mentoring of staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field and 15+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 25 to 30 years of experience.
- Master’s degree.
- RA or PE License.
- Preferred experience in South Florida.
- Proven ability to lead large, complex multidisciplinary teams and manage interfaces with multiple stakeholders, including Airports, DOT (preferably FDOT), Rail/APM systems, and parking facilities.
- Strong background in collaborative delivery approaches.
- Solid understanding of deliverable packaging, permitting processes, and integration with overall project delivery schedules.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex technical challenges into clear, accessible language for non-technical audiences.
- Highly knowledgeable and dependable, demonstrating responsiveness and reliability in dynamic environments.
- Personable leader with strong listening skills and a collaborative, humble approach to problem‑solving, fostering trust, alignment, and team engagement.
