Acacia Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join our team as Medical Director.

As our Medical Director, you’ll lead an AAHA-accredited, 2‑doctor hospital that has an excellent team full of hardworking and compassionate individuals, including 2 CVTs! We’re searching for an experienced doctor who will build upon our hospital’s current strengths, while elevating our services and encouraging new business ideas.
Veterinarians who are confident in surgery, love teaching, and have a performance/culture driven mindset will be highly considered for this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day‑to‑day operations of a 2‑doctor AAHA‑accredited animal hospital.
- Provide patient‑focused medicine and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Elevate services and encourage new business ideas.
- Perform and supervise surgical, anesthetic (1‑4 procedures per day), orthopedic (including TPLO), dental, and exotic pet care.
- Mentor new graduates and early‑career doctors through an established mentorship program.
- Participate in a Medical Advisory Board, monthly DVM rounds with an internal medicine specialist, and dentistry training courtesy of a board‑certified dental surgeon.
- Maintain professional interests, licensure, and continuing education.
- Support staff development and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Experience as a veterinarian (DVM) with confidence in surgery and anesthesia.
- Interest in teaching, mentorship, and a performance‑driven culture.
- Knowledge of orthopedics, dentistry, exotic pet care, and wildlife rescue.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships.
- Commitment to patient‑focused medicine and employee growth.
Location
Tucson, AZ – minutes from La Paloma and La Encantada, with an excellent client base that respects our DVM team and trusts their recommendations. Tucson offers excellent food, over 40 golf courses, and proximity to Oro Valley for outdoor recreation.

At Acacia, we strive to be a comprehensive care facility and have spent 10+ years cultivating relationships in our community to see the importance of a patient‑focused medicine approach. We see small animals and exotics and occasionally work with the local wildlife rescue. We’re an AAHA‑accredited practice equipped with digital radiographs, ultrasound, cold laser, warming surgical tables, and more. We have five stocked exam rooms, an IDEXX in‑house laboratory (including Sedivue), and perform everything from general wellness checks to orthopedic surgery, TPLO, and dental services.
