Digital Media Strategist

Position Summary The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) is hiring a Digital Media Strategist to develop and execute the committee's digital strategy to support, elevate, and elect Democratic Attorneys General and candidates. Democratic AGs have emerged as the most effective leaders protecting our democracy and holding President Trump and his GOP allies accountable. In Trump's first administration, Dem AGs together filed more than 100+ lawsuits against Trump and won at least 80% of the time in court. Too often, Dem AGs and AG races fly under the radar. DAGA is here to make sure these leaders, and these elections are front and center. The Digital Strategist will need to run effective digital social media programs. Management experience and experience working with vendors is ideal. Applicants must display an understanding of how different digital tools and platforms can be used to communicate and engage on complex issues to different audiences. The Digital Strategist will report to the Communications Director. The Digital Strategist will oversee DAGA's Digital Media Associate.
Responsibilities
Coordinate with the Communications Director to develop a long-term digital strategy across Democratic Attorneys General Association platforms
Direct and manage the daily workflow of digital campaigns, including proposal development, campaign activation and maintenance, and reporting/analysis
Manage all social media platforms including developing overall strategy, managing a content calendar, supporting the drafting, editing, and scheduling of content, and reporting/analysis of relevant metrics
Support growth in content creation (graphics & video) including brainstorming ideas and helping manage projects from idea through completion
Closely monitor current events to create relevant digital campaigns that align with the organization's priorities - and coordinate digital messaging with campaign teams, candidates, and partner orgs
Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and digital staff on AG races, partner committees, and organizations
Train AGs and staff on best practices in digital/social media
Manage the committee websites, microsites, digital advocacy and engagement tools and work with Policy, Political, and other departments as necessary to ensure their needs relating to these sites and tools are met
Help manage current and future vendors and budgeting process
Direct the production of monthly analytics report for the Executive Director and other organizational personnel, offering insights into website, social media, and other digital programs
Identify needs for departmental process improvements, such as internal trainings, campaign/candidate trainings, and organizational tools
Assist special projects and events as needed, ranging from establishing guidelines, project management, strategic planning, and conferences
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications
Preferred Skills & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree
5-7+ years of relevant digital experience
At least two years of staff or vendor management experience
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization from media partners to senior leadership
In-depth knowledge of digital media strategy, principles, and techniques
Previous experience in political campaigns or political organization groups, such as PACs/c4s or nonprofit
Deep working knowledge of digital strategy, programs, and toolsets (including CRM systems)
Flexibility which allows the candidate to adjust to changing priorities and operate effectively in a fluid and fast-paced environment
Project management skills that enable the juggling of multiple tasks, allocating and optimizing resources and managing timelines
Sense of humor and positive attitude

Structure and Location The position will be located at DAGA’s Washington, DC office. DAGA currently operates with a hybrid model where DC-based employees work in-office three days a week and work remotely from home two days a week. DAGA’s office is open 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern, but extended and nontraditional work hours are required. This full-time role requires a willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is $70,000- $85,000, commensurate with experience.
