Excellent opportunity on offer for a Design Engineer / Packaging Engineer / CAD Engineer to step into a technically challenging, customer-facing position with a global packaging organisation, where you will work on complex engineering projects for major international OEM customers.
On offer is a highly technical role where you will move beyond pure design work and become the technical interface between customer engineering teams and manufacturing, using data, facts, and engineering judgement to influence decisions and win long‑term programs.
The company is a well‑established, international packaging solutions provider, supplying engineered transport packaging across multiple industries including automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing. As part of continued growth within the lithium‑ion battery and e‑mobility space, they are expanding their technical presence in the US market and are seeking a design‑focused engineer ready to move into a more consultative role.
In this position, you will support large, technically demanding OEM customers, acting as their primary technical contact. You will lead CAD‑based design discussions, justify engineering decisions, and work closely with global engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to deliver solutions that balance performance, cost, and manufacturability.
This role is ideal for a strong design engineer who enjoys customer interaction and wants to develop into a technical authority, without moving into a traditional sales role.
The Role:
Acting as the technical point of contact for a strategic customer account
Leading CAD design reviews and technical discussions with customer engineers
Translating customer requirements into engineered packaging solutions
Working between customer engineering teams and internal operations
Developing counter‑proposals that balance performance, cost, and manufacturability
Supporting commercial success through technical expertise rather than sales activity
Full package: $90,000‑$100,000 + 10% Bonus + Advanced Training + Progression + Full Benefits
The Person:
Background as a Design Engineer / Packaging Engineer / CAD Engineer
Strong hands‑on CAD design experience (SolidWorks, IronCAD, or similar)
Experience designing corrugated, plastic, or wood packaging solutions
Comfortable explaining and defending engineering decisions to customers
Interested in moving into a more customer‑facing, consultative role
Structured, analytical, and fact‑driven communicator
Exposure to lithium‑ion batteries or e‑mobility beneficial but not essential
Strong academic background advantageous
