Job Summary

Responsible for writing and publishing news content for Wapa Television's newscasts.

Duties, responsibilities, and essential functions of the job

• Search for, research, and decide on the newscast content for the day.
• Prepare the newscast template for the upcoming edition.
• Detail the remote and live reports that reporters will have in the field.
• Coordinate interviews.
• Decide on and prepare the regular segments.
• Write news stories, headlines, and everything presented on the teleprompter.
• Support associate producers and assistants, who help in the writing and coordination of international, health, and entertainment news.
• Any other responsibility and/or task required by supervisor for the effective operation of the channel's newscasts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a newsroom.
• Initiative to present ideas. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Basic supervisory skills.
• Excellent spelling and writing skills in both Spanish and English.
• Confidentiality management skills.
• Available to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
