Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Field Appraiser travels to various locations throughout the assigned territory to inspect and evaluate physical damage to vehicles for first and third-party claims. The appraiser assesses the current market value and estimates the cost of repair. Essential Job Functions:
Ensure equitable settlement of damages while maintaining good customer service and shop relations. Inspect and evaluate the degree of physical damage to vehicles; complete detailed damage summaries and estimate repair costs based on knowledge of equipment, parts, and present values. Present estimates, reach agreed-upon prices with repair facilities, and confirm assessments; negotiate settlements as necessary. Research the total cash value of vehicles and parts by gathering current market information to settle total losses. Take photographs of vehicles and damages to aid in liability determination and substantiate findings; submit reports with thorough documentation. Perform re-inspections and authorize supplemental repairs to ensure quality service and thorough restoration. Maintain communication with clients throughout the repair process; report evaluations, explain procedures, respond to inquiries, and provide courteous, timely customer service. Stay updated on current vehicle and parts values, industry changes, and company policies. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, with 6 months of technical training preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience as a Field Appraiser or equivalent combination of education and experience. This role will focus on serving the West Los Angeles area.
