Position Summary:

The Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life supports the academic mission of Jacksonville State University by fostering a vibrant living and learning community that cultivates personal development, celebrates diversity, promotes leadership, and enhances the educational experience of each resident. This 12‑month live‑on student staff position reports directly to the Residence Life Coordinator, Director of Residence Life, or Director of Housing Operations. The assistant will assist in community development, create a positive living environment, manage special projects and events (e.g., preview day), handle reporting and filing, oversee move‑in and on‑call duties, provide training, support the food pantry, supervise student workers, coordinate residence life activities and programs, and perform additional duties as required by the department.

Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assisting the direct supervisor in community development initiatives Encouraging a positive living environment for residents Assisting with special projects and events such as preview day Reporting and filing Move‑in coordination On‑call responsibilities Training Assisting with the food pantry Supervision of student workers Residence life activities and programming Additional duties as required by the department

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of leadership and managerial skills Ability to develop and implement residence hall developmental programming Strong administrative skills Ability to interact and work well with staff and students of diverse backgrounds Experience working with student groups and committees Personal integrity and professional behavior in all areas

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled as a Jax State student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester (see international‑student requirements below) For non‑first‑time students, a GPA of 2.00 or higher Provide evidence of enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or MyJaxState printout)
