Schedule:
Full-Time | Every other Friday off (paid wellness day) | Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm

Your Role: Community Support Specialist As a Community Support Specialist serving individuals in Macon County, you will provide community-based mental health services that help individuals build independence, enhance daily living skills, improve emotional wellness, and remain stable in their homes and communities.
You will play a key role in helping clients reduce hospitalizations, increase natural supports, navigate systems, and achieve their personal recovery goals. This is a highly rewarding, relationship-based position for someone who enjoys being out in the community and making a meaningful impact every day.
Core Responsibilities
Provide community-based skill-building and support services to adults with mental health or co-occurring needs.
Assist clients in developing skills related to daily living, symptom management, problem-solving, socialization, and emotional regulation.
Support clients in crisis prevention, early intervention, and consistent follow‑up to maintain stability.
Help individuals access community resources such as housing, benefits, education, employment, and medical care.
Collaborate with behavioral health providers, primary care, community agencies, and natural supports to ensure coordinated services.
Document services in accordance with agency and state requirements.
Promote client independence, empowerment, dignity, and recovery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge
Basic understanding of mental health symptoms, recovery models, and trauma-informed care.
Familiarity with local social service systems and community resources.
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging a diverse population.
Ability to develop trust, build rapport, and maintain professional boundaries.
Effective organizational and time‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
Abilities
Work independently while remaining accountable to team goals.
Adapt to changing client needs, home environments, and schedules.
Use technology effectively for documentation and communication.
Demonstrate cultural humility and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent + 5 years of supervised mental health or social service experience
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field preferred
Minimum of 21 years of age
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance
