This recruitment will be used to fill four part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Graphic Designer positions for Recreational Sports at Oregon State University (OSU). Student Graphic Designers play a key role in serving both Recreational Sports and Student Experiences and Engagement. Working collaboratively with professional marketing staff, designers create engaging materials that promote Rec Sports and Student Experiences and Engagement facilities, programs and services to the campus community. Projects include both digital media (social media graphics, digital signage and email newsletters) and print media (posters, flyers and more). This position offers a creative, supportive, and student-centered environment where designers are active contributors throughout the design process—from concept to implementation. Students gain hands‑on experience, build a professional portfolio and develop skills that prepare them for future careers in design and marketing. Values in Action

Role and Responsibilities
Design and produce visual content: Create, proofread, and edit print and digital deliverables using Adobe Creative Cloud tools, ensuring alignment with OSU branding, accessibility standards and inclusive design practices. Collaborate effectively: Partner with clients and Marketing & Communications staff to define project goals and objectives, applying active listening, critical thinking and professional communication to achieve shared understanding and alignment. Manage projects and deadlines: Utilize project management tools to organize tasks, track timelines, and maintain clear communication, demonstrating strong time management and technological proficiency. Support team initiatives: Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications team on a variety of projects, showing initiative, adaptability and a commitment to professional growth through teamwork and hands‑on experience. Maintain professional standards: Uphold accuracy and attention to detail in all work, demonstrating reliability and accountability in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study. Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment. Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program. Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term. Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term. Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term. Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.
Additional Required Qualifications
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to organize and complete tasks on time, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain design concepts to non‑designers. Excellent attention to detail, including proofreading and quality assurance for both print and digital materials. Commitment to accessible and inclusive design practices, ensuring compliance with OSU accessibility standards. Commitment to providing an exceptional client experience, including active listening, responsiveness, and professionalism. First Aid, CPR / AED for the Healthcare Provider and DRS Bloodborne Pathogens certifications is required before employment begins and will be provided by the department upon hiring. Preferred (Special) Qualifications
There is a strong preference for students enrolled in OSU’s Graphic Design Program. Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Period of Employment:
One academic year (continuing employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a 30‑day probationary period and satisfactory job performance as evaluated by immediate supervisor). Hours:
10‑15 hours a week within the hours of 8 a.m.‑5 p.m. Monday‑Friday. Compensation
Students are paid an hourly wage consistent with the OSU Student Employment Pay Rate Guidelines. The Department of Recreational Sports identifies pay ranges based upon job duties, level of responsibility and complexity of the work to be performed. Application Documents Needed
