Our client, an accessible luxury fashion brand, is looking for a TEMPORARY Associate Designer to join their team on-site in Chatsworth, CA!
Responsibilities
Trend Forecast & Research:
Monitor trends and apply them in a way that is in line with the brand identity. Translate insights into market-ready designs that resonate with the brand’s e-commerce audience.
Product Development & Execution:
Assist with the coordination of design development including digital/hand sketches, technical flat sketches, color/print illustrations and tech pack development from initial concept to finished product.
Communication & Collaboration:
Work closely with vendors/suppliers, factories, and internal teams to ensure the quality of each design.
Fabric & Trim Sourcing/Selection:
Research & support the selection of fabrics, closures, trims, and finishes that align with the brand’s vision.
E-Commerce Alignment:
Create designs with a focus on e-commerce appeal considering how each garment will look online, photography potential, and overall functionality.
Design Innovation:
Stay ahead of design trends by consistently introducing fresh new ideas or concepts, new sewing techniques, and innovative approaches (while paying special attention to seasonality) that cater to the fast-paced e-commerce market.
Occasionally Review Samples & Attend Fittings:
Review, spec, and organize incoming samples for fittings, and provide clear, actionable feedback to enhance fit and construction. Conduct live model fittings, documenting detailed fit notes to guide revisions.
Occasionally Manage Garment Technical Requirements:
Oversee all technical aspects of garment development, including specifications, pattern making, and construction details, ensuring precision and quality at every stage of the process.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in fashion design.
Strong portfolio demonstrating original design, apparel flats/sketches, fabric/trim sourcing, and finished product.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (technical flats), Photoshop, and MS Office Suite.
