Director of Nursing (DON) Freedom Behavioral Hospital – Greenville, MS Full-Time | Exempt | Leadership Role

About the Role Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Greenville is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for all nursing services across our psychiatric and inpatient programs. This role is critical to maintaining patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and staff development.

The Director of Nursing is a key member of the hospital leadership team and works collaboratively with executive leadership, medical staff, Quality, and Human Resources to ensure excellence in patient care and survey readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership, supervision, and professional development for all nursing staff

Ensure nursing services comply with CMS, Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations

Maintain safe staffing levels and oversee nursing schedules and payroll compliance

Participate in QAPI, performance improvement initiatives, audits, and corrective action plans

Ensure survey readiness and regulatory compliance at all times

Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, discipline, evaluations, and terminations

Oversee nursing care delivery for inpatient psychiatric and IOP programs

Serve as nursing administrator on-call as assigned

Monitor quality metrics, chart audits, and nursing performance indicators

Support a culture of safety, accountability, and patient-centered care

Qualifications Education

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required)

MSN preferred or equivalent clinical leadership oversight

Licensure

Active RN license in the State of Mississippi (or eligible)

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of nursing leadership or management experience

Psychiatric or behavioral health experience strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of nursing standards, patient safety, and regulatory requirements

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to lead in high-acuity behavioral health environments

Proficient in documentation, audits, and quality improvement processes
