Our client, a well-established community bank in Abilene, is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Officer at the Vice President or Senior Vice President level. This role is ideal for a proven lender with deep experience in small business and SBA lending who values relationship banking and local decision-making. The position includes an existing portfolio of clients with expectations for prudent growth and strong credit quality.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of commercial and small business relationships, with an emphasis on SBA and CRE lending Originate, structure, and close commercial loans in accordance with bank policy and regulatory guidelines Develop new business through referrals, community involvement, and professional networks Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners, providing tailored lending and deposit solutions Conduct thorough credit analysis, financial statement review, and risk assessment Prepare and present loan requests to internal credit committees as required Maintain strong asset quality through proactive portfolio management and ongoing client communication Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and applicable regulations Represent the bank positively in the Abilene community and support the bank’s community-focused mission Qualifications
5+ years of commercial lending experience, preferably within a community bank environment Demonstrated expertise in small business lending and SBA loan programs Proven ability to manage and grow a commercial loan portfolio Strong credit analysis and underwriting skills Established or transferable business development relationships preferred Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-management skills Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Title & Compensation
