Minimum qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

10 years of experience in employee relations/investigations, gained in either an HRBP role, Employee Relations Advisory role, or equivalent experience as an employment attorney practicing employment law.

Experience applying employment law principles, conducting and advising on investigations and workplace concerns.

Preferred qualifications

JD.

Experience advising on various employee relations issues, including reorganizations and performance issues.

Ability to manage stakeholders and influence the outcomes in a global organization.

Ability to successfully work across different identities and apply an intersectional lens in daily work and interactions, operating with empathy, and diffusing/de-escalating difficult conversations/situations.

Project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage global projects.

Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with ability to organize and analyze data.

About The Job As a part of the Googler Experience team within People Operations, we are a forward thinking Employee Relations team that relies on both our subject matter expertise and empathy to help make a better Google by being there for Googlers in the moments that matter most. We conduct thorough and timely investigations into allegations of violations of Google HR policies and review and advise on other workplace concerns to ensure fair treatment. We support the learning and development of each member of our team and provide both training and practical experience to support the cultivation of employee relations expertise. As an Employee Relations Partner in the Investigations and Workplace Concerns Practice Area, you will use your expertise in applicable employment laws and best practices to interpret and apply Google policies to conduct investigations and address workplace concerns. Your responsibilities include conducting thorough interviews with Googlers with empathy while keeping the Googler experience in mind, identifying the policies implicated, engaging the appropriate partners, gathering the information necessary to make findings and recommendations, and ensuring the timely resolution of concerns. This will include matters that may violate Google’s HR policies as well as ensuring Googlers are being treated fairly and consistently in areas such as reorganizations, promotion, performance management, pay and level by advising on appropriate actions and disciplinary processes. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$245,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Conduct fair, thorough and timely investigations into allegations of violations of Google’s HR policies or local law and policies to ensure fair treatment of all Googlers. Ensure investigations, complaints, and disciplinary processes are managed efficiently in accordance with local requirements.

Partner with Employee Relations and Partner Investigations (e.g., Regulatory Affairs, Security) which may include taking notes, advising, and drafting or delivering discipline. Collaborate flexibly across teams and time zones.

Advise on and address other workplace concerns in line with local processes (e.g., pay, level, performance) and any other conduct that may breach policies.

Be able to de-escalate and resolve matters and communicate clear guidance and coaching to Googlers, People Operations (POps) partners, management, and influence as necessary.

Draft summaries and recommendations to document and resolve issues and advice as necessary.
